The Fokker D-VII was designed late in 1917 by Anthony Fokker and Reinhold Platz. The D-VII became the mainstay of the German Air Force Jastas , or fighter squadrons.
Germany was prone to colorfully decorate their factory camouflaged aerial steeds. Jasta 15 painted their noses red
and the fuselages a dark blue. Ltn. d R Hugo Schaefer had what appeared to be a winged dragon painted on his D-VII.
